many stages

I saw this tile in a cafe in Manchester. It’s very nice.

I wanted to design a border of swimming fish, for a bathroom. I like the effect of multiple surfaces layered on top of one another.

Cut out tiles, with fish from one of my fave books, Sterba’s Freshwater Fish Of The World and the outline pounced with charcoal so I could cut around the fish for the background

Plaster mould made from the tiles, and metal tool used to carve away the detail of the fish

Completed row of five tiles, with green glaze mixed by me, and fish glazed with brush on Envision glazes.

I’m pretty happy with these, I need to mix a decent blue for the background of the next batch. The detail on the fish scales came out well, I think, they look pretty smart.
