brick and block

Amsterdam, the weekend before the Queen abdicated. Office trip to see the Ijberg area, and the beautiful beautiful brick buildings of the Old Town. Inspirational!

I have no idea what is going on with this building. It’s residential over retail, with a very strange window and roof configuration, added to which there’s a huge hole in the middle. There’s no clue when you look through the hole, it’s a fairly standard courtyard block. Odd!

Flats right on the edge of Ijberg. It was a Saturday afternoon and although there were curtains in the wondows, there was no sign of life at all at the edges of the development. Spooky. 4500 homes – ish – built, and many many more to come.

The school at Ijberg

The public library.
