Tantallon Castle

We went to Tantallon Castle on Sunday, very much recommended for a sunny and fun day out.

The ruins of the castle sit facing the sea, the main part of the castle that is still standing is the massive curtain wall, which you can walk up to various levels.

It must have been some imposing sight to enemies of the Douglas clan, and must have also been very comfortable accommodation in the summer. Winters would have been fairly nippy, mind.

View of Bass Rock, covered in gannets. We could see gannets all over the surface of the still sea.

Gulls nesting in the walls of the castle.

The dungeon.
